Cast

Bud Abbott as Alfred Alf Brown? Yes, one of the most celebrated and beloved comedians of the 20th century.

Alf is a buffoon who works at a San Francisco mail-order house, owned by his brother-in-law. He is hired to go to Africa with the explorer, Clyde Beatty, and is mistaken for a famous paleontologist. He ends up getting into all sorts of trouble.

Abbott portrays Alf with an endearing mix of bumbling innocence and comic timing. He steals the show with his pratfalls and tall tales, and is an excellent foil to the straight man, Clyde Beatty.

It’s easy to see why Bud Abbott’s performance in Africa Screams was so highly praised. He manages to make Alf a lovable character despite the situation he gets himself into. It’s no wonder he’s still remembered today!

Lou Costello as Charles Chuck O’Connor

Lou Costello as Charles Chuck OConnor in Africa Screams is an iconic performance. How could you not love Costellos charm and energy? He brings a lot of life to the role, and its easy to see why he was chosen to portray Chuck.

But what makes Costellos performance so special? Its his ability to bring a lighthearted touch to a character that could have easily been a one-dimensional fat-shamer. Instead, Costello manages to make Chuck endearing and sympathetic. He brings a lot of heart to the character that helps to make the movie so enjoyable.

Max Baer, Jr. as Max Baer, Jr.

Max Baer, Jr., star of Africa Screams (1949), is best known for his role as Jethro Bodine in the classic television series The Beverly Hillbillies. But in Africa Screams, Baer plays the character of Max Baer, Jr. — himself. As the movies star and namesake, Baer does a great job of playing up his own comedic persona for maximum effect. He is goofy, naive, and often downright silly. But at the same time, he has an endearing quality that makes him an audience favorite. Its no surprise that Baer became a beloved television star after his role in Africa Screams.

Curtis Turner as Joe

Curtis Turner stars as Joe in Africa Screams, and he certainly makes an impression. But what kind of impression, one might ask? Well, Turners performance as Joe is nothing short of remarkable. Charles Barton as Himself
