Plot
The plot of Babar: King of the Elephants (1999) follows the story of Babar the Elephant who, after his mother is killed by a hunter, is taken in by a kindly old woman. In the city he learns how to be a proper elephant, but he soon finds himself longing for the freedom of the jungle. He returns home and, in a series of adventures, learns how to be a leader and ultimately becomes the King of the Elephants.
But what does it mean to be a King? And how will Babar use his power? These are the questions that drive the narrative of the film, and Babars journey towards the answers is an exciting one.
